Sydney Liu is our January Star Player of the Month!
Sydney Liu is a Statistician in the Office of Institutional Research and runs the centrally managed course evaluation system for the university. She leads the effort to evaluate over 20,000 course sections every academic year, which includes sending hundreds of thousands of emails to almost 47,000 students, faculty, and staff in that same timeframe. In the summer and fall of 2021, Sydney took on the task of identifying patterns in survey responses among different segments of the student population. The analysis was important to evaluating the strength of the main course evaluation instrument. She completed this while managing the complex and time-consuming course evaluation process. Sydney is a valued member of the department and a pleasure to work with. Her professionalism, supportive nature, and responsiveness are evident when interacting with her.
